LORD RANFURLY WEDS

Australian Romance Of Former Governor's Son

The Earl of Ranfurly, whose father was at one time Govenfor-General of New Zealand, was married recently at St. George's Church, Hanover Square, London, to Miss Hermione Llewellyn, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Llewellyn, Devon. The bride was formerly private secretary to Lady Wakehurst in Sydney, and it was there that she met her husband, who was A.D.C. to the Governor-General of Australia, Lord Gowrle.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of silver and white brocade, cut on lines of classical simplicity, with a square neckline and long, tight sleeves. The train was cut in one with the slim skirt. She carried ‘a sheaf of lilies. Her veil of rare old Brussels lace had Jieeij worn by the brides of former Earls of Raiifurly.

Eight bridesmaids were in attendance. Misses Cynthia and Daphne Llewellyn, the bride’s sisters, Misses June Lloyd, Ann Price, Georgina Crossman, Mary Hargreaves, Gillian Barclay, and Christina Streit (field. Their dresses were of white slipper satin and pleated chiffon, and were made with high waist lines, puff sleeves, and square necklines. 'They wore wreaths of hyacinths on their hair, and carried matching bouquets. Two pages, Harry Elwes, and Christopher Motley, wore suits of white satin. Mr. Denis Griffiths was best man. The Dean of Magdelene College. Cambridge. the bridegroom’s former college, otliciated. Two hundred guests attended the reception, which was held at Lady Cooper’s West End house. The honeymoon will be spent on the Continent. Afterward the bride and bridegroom will live at Lord Hanfurly’s fiat in Charges Street.

Going Abrood Dr. Dorothy Spence-Sales, Dunedin, left on Monday for England.
