CHRISTCHURCH, January 19.
After having been carried on intensively for about three mouths, the police search in Claverley for Mrs. Harriet Jane I’atience, who has been missing from her home there since October 4, will be discontinued from today. Superintendent A. Cameron said tonight, however, that inquiries would be continued. The search has covered a wide area of Hind and water. As well.as digging on the bench, the police have combed the back country near the settlement and have also dragged swamps and streams. Their activities have extended as far as 20 miles from .Claverley. Both police officers and Public Works’ Department men were engaged in tlfe search during the earlier stages, but Hie number of men has been reduced as tlie work was narrowed. Six of the police officers were withdrawn about three weeks ago, another eight last week and the final party of six will finish their work today. The search in Claverley was under the direction of Detective-Sergeant J. Bickerdike.
