FIRST AID IN SCHOOLS
Instruction To Be Given To 11,036 Pupils
A special meeting of representatives of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the St. John Ambulance "Association was held recently to discuss the organization for arranging instructors and demonstrators for the teaching of first aid to pupils of the fifth and seventh standards of the primary schools and in all secondary schools'. The commissioner in charge of the Wellington district, Mr. F. W. Ward, presided. It was reported by the secretary, Mr. C. Meachen, that a large number of the secondary schools had sent in their requests for assistance and that a special sub-committee had been set up by the Wellington Education Board to discuss the matter w,ith the association. To carry out this work it will bo necessary to have sufficient demonstrators to attend approximately 105 schools for the training of some 11,036 scholars in the Wellington district. Negotiations arc also being made with the National Broadcasting, Service to reach country schools where it is not possible to arrange for instructors. A meeting of the honorary instructors’ association will be held on Tuesday evening to discuss further details.
