PLAN TO MARCH ON LONDON
British Farmers Demand
Fair Prices
(Independent Cable Service.)
LONDON, January 11
Claiming attention for their demands for Government help for agriculture, 5000 farmers, dairymaids, and’ labourers plan to march to London on February 1 with petitions which will be presented to Buckingham Palace, the House of Commons, and the mansion House. A mass meeting at Ipswich resolved that “unless the Government takes steps to provide that the prices of our produce bear a fair relation to production costs we pledge ourselves to do everything to oppose the return of the National Government.” The organizers of the march state that 50,000 farmers are willing to participate. “We don’t want a riot, but anything might happen if they all went to London,” the organizers said.
