GERMAN SUBSIDY ON WOOLLEN GOODS

British Firms Alarmed

LONDON. January JI.

British wool manufacturers are apprehensive following an announcement by the Berlin Chamber of Commerce of a renewal of the subsidy on exports to 100 per cent, of the value of the wool used in their manufacture. Officials of British textile organizations point out that Germany has been buying from Bradford raw wool for army uniforms, and mixing with wool synthetic fibres for which they pay by exports of woollen clothing. 'l'he subsidy enables Germany to sell garments on which she has paid only production costs.
