Golden Jubilee Next Week SCHOLARS OF 1889 Next week scholars and ex-scholars of the Clyde Quay School, Wellington are to celebrate the golden jubilee of the school in a manner befitting the occasion. , , On Friday afternoon there will be a picnic of the present scholars and friends in the Pirie Street reserve. On Saturday there is to be a gathering of ex-pupils at the school in Elizabeth Street at 2 p.m., which will take the form of a social reunion, with suitable speeches to mark the event, but in the main it will be an occasion for ex-pupils to renew tUeiv acquaintance with those with whom they romped 50 years ago. That evening both of the larger assembly halts iu the Oddfellows’ Hall in Clyde Quay will be occupied, one for the purpose of a dance for the younger people and the other Cor a social reunion among the elderly. On the Sunday morning a wreath is to 'be placed on the War Memorial iu Lambton Quay in memory of the expupils who served iu the Great War. That afternoon at 2.30 o’clock a service is to be held at the. De Luxo.Theatre, to be presided, over by an ex-pupil, Dr. D. Macdonald Wilson. Sir James Flliott, another ex-pupil, will be one of the speakers. The secretary of the Clyde Quay Scho'ol Ex-Pupils’ Association, Mr. F. Wilton, who has done yeoman service in connexion with the jubilee arrangements, has got out a complete list of those who sat for the examinations m November, 1889, the end of the first year of the school’s operations.
