Hitherto the resident officers of the I’ost and Telegraph Department and the New Zealand Division of the Royal Naw who are located on Alt. I'ltako, Tinakorl Hills, Imre been dependent on rain water caught by tanks for their water supply. That supply has now been rendered obsolete by the provision of a service reservoir, erected at a height of 985 feet from sea-level, which will be supplied with water pumped froiji the city mains for a height of 310 feet on the Northland side of the hill. The self-oiling electric pumping plant, is capable of lifting water to a height of 500 feet, so that the new reservoir is well within its power. It is able to pump between -100 and 500 gallons of water an hour. The reservoir has a capacity of 20.000 gallons.
