Two Charges Against

Woman

A luie of £2 ou each charge was imposed ou a. woman who appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday on two charges of undertaking to tell fortunes.

Sub-Inspector D. A. McLean said that as the result of complaints a police matron was sent to the woman. The woman pushed a pack of fortunetelling cards to the matron and asked her to select one. The woman then told of a lot of matters which she said were likely to happen in the future. The matron said that none of these things were likely to happen. She had no expectations. On the second occasion two matrons went and a similar reading was given. A charge of 1/6 was made.
