Funds For Assembly Hall

LEVIN, December 9,

To assist in the establishment of an assembly hall at Horowhenua College, now in the course of construction, the mayor of Levin. Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, called a meeting of representatives throughout the Horowhenua district to consider means of raising £lOOO, the district’s share toward the cost. A letter read by the mayor stated that the Government was prepared to subsidize this amount with a grant ot £2OOO, and those present formed themselves into an organization to be known as the Horowhenua College assembly ball committee, and appointed the Key. I. W. Fraser secretary and Mr. Goldsmith treasurer. An executive consisting of Messrs. Goldssmith Hudson, Kennerley and Fraser was appointed. Two donations totalling £4/1/- are at present in hand. It was decided that school committees and other interested organizations in the district should be approached immediately for their co-operation.
