Sir Hugh Acland, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday and left, again in the evening on his return. Mr. W. G. Offer, Auckland, is visiting Wellington. Mr. J. W. Dove, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington yesterday. Dr. T. W. J. Johnson has been re- ? appointed a member of tlie Medical Council. Mr. It. M. Macfarlane, mayor of Christchurch, left Wellington for the south last night. The Hon. F. E. O’Flynn, M.L.C., arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Mr. Morga’n Williams. M.l’., was an arrival at Wellington yesterday from the south. Mr. J. Battersby. Hamilton, will arrive at Wellington this morning by the limited express. Mr. D. J. Cummings. Commissioner of Police, returned to Wellington yesterday from the south. Mr. J. F. Ewen, a director of Sargood, Son, and Ewen, Ltd., left Wellington for Auckland last night. Mr. Clyde Carr, M.P., arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Mr. M. Silverstone, Dunedin, a director of the Reserve Bank, arrived at Wellington yesterday from tlie south. Mr. A. Geddes, sales manager for the South Island for the Radio Corporation of New Zealand, left Wellington for the south yesterday. Mr. E. W. Clarkson, secretary of the New Zealand Master Printers’ Association. returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. ( Mr. A. H. Allen, mayor of Dunedin, arrived at Wellington yesterday from the south to attend a meeting of tlie executive of the New Zealand Municipal Association. Mr. Alfred Hill, composer and musician, Sydney, is visiting Auckland. He is said to be composing music for a picture with a New Zealand background.
Mr. F. 11. Waters. Commissioner of Crown Lands, Dunedin, Ims received notice of his transfer to Wellington to take over tlie position of deputy Valuer-General. He will leave Dunedin toward the end of January.
Mr. J. M. Clark, Auckland, is a visitor to Wellington. Jlr. Clark was at one time Wellington's leading reciter, and a valued member of the Wellington Savage Club. In recent years he has supervised the presentation of many radio plays in Auckland. Lieutenant J. A. Mars, a New Zealander who for the past six years has been serving, with tlie Royal Artillery in England and with the Hong KongSingapore Royal Artillery, in Singapore, will arrive at Auckland by the Wangnnella on January 31 to spend several months on leave in the Dominion. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Mars.
