Lady Galway Gives Lamp

An apology was received from the patroness, her Excellency Viscountess Galway, who had been invited to attend. The chairman reported that Lady Galway had shown her interest in the movement by consenting to give a lamp to one of the new branches. It was suggested that this lamp should be presented to the Nelson unit which had Just attained branch status. Reports were received from units throughout the Dominion showing that renewed stimulus had been giveu to development during the year. The range of community service was being extended, wider contact had been made with social service organizations, and generally a keener spirit was being displayed by members. In addition, outside support had been obtained by the enrolment of associate members, who were willing to further the aims of the movement and help by financial contributions. The chairman reported that a new unit had been started in New Plymouth, the members of which were showing great enthusiasm. The resignation of Miss E. Riddick, honorary Dominion secretary, was received with regret, and the thanks of all members were extended to her for her services during the past four years. Mrs. I. Gibbs, Otago region, was elected honorary Dominion secretary, and Miss D. Quinton was re-elected honorary Dominion treasurer.

The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Miss Helen Benbow for the splendid reorganization work which she had accomplished during the past nine months.
