The West Lewisham by-election, due to the death of Sir Philip Dawson (Conservative), resulted: — . Mr. Henry Brooke ( Con.) 22,587 Mr. A. M. Skellington (Lab.) 16,939
In the 1935 election, Sir Philip Dawson secured 27,173 votes and Mr. R. M. M. Stewart (Socialist) 14,803.
