GAS FOR STATE HOUSES
Installations to 194 State houses in Lower Hutt, were completed in September, according to a report presented to last night’s meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board. Gas nfauufactured for September total; led 10,960,000 cubic feet, an increase of 330,000 over the figure for September, 1937, and a. of 703,000. compared with August, 1938. _ Tar stock was given as 3i,600 gallons. Sales in September were 12,879 gallons, including 3212 gallons to the Wellington Harbour Board and 7672 to the Petone Borough Council. ■ “He was a man of wide outlook, and always ready to give assistance- when required,” said the chairman, Mr. J. Cumming, referring to the late Mr. James Kerr, with the relatives of whom the board recorded its sympathy.
