CAR AND TRUCK BADLY DAMAGED

Collision At Intersection

Wanganui, August 11. At 6.45 a.m. to-day a motor-car and truck collided at the intersection of Springvale Road, Parsons Street, Ferguson Street, and Grey Street. Both vehicles were badly damaged. The driver of (ho truck, Mr. J. Newton, Springvale Road, received facial injuries and was taken to Wanganui Public Hospital. His condition to-night is not serious. Mr. Newton was driving his truck toward the Imlay freezing works. The motor-car, driven by Mr. T. Donaghy, I’itt Street, was going toward Castlecliff. Tile truck was turned round and thrown against a pole on the corner of Grey Street, and as a result some of the telephone wires were broken. The car turned over.

Mr. Donaghy had a baby sitting beside him; when the car was turning over he protected the child in his arms and both escaped injury.
