Marquess Of Lothian And Other Parliamentarians

AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE

Several of the overseas delegates to the British Commonwealth Relations Conference, which is to be held at Lapstone Hotel, Blue Mountains, New South Wales, from September 3 to 17, will pay visits to New Zealand, according to advice received by the Clerk of Parliaments, Mr. C. M. Bothamley, who is secretary of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association.

The Marquess of Lothian, who will fly from England to Australia to attend the conference, intends to visit New Zealand after the conference in September, when he will spend a fortnight in the country. Lord Lothian Is secretary of the Rhodes Trust, a position he has occupied since 1925.

Four of the delegates will arrive at Auckland by the Aorangi on August 22 and will remain in the Dominion for a week before proceeding to Sydney. They will be:— Mr D J. O’Sullivan, secretary of the Eire ’branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association. Mr. James Dillon, Deputy-Leader ot the Opposition in the Dail. Mr. H. M. Dockrell, also representing Mr. James Walker, M.P. for Lanark, Motherwell Division, who is a member of the national executive of the British Labour Party and head of 'the union dealing with the iron and steel industry in Britain. , , . If an opportunity offers while he is in New Zealand Mr. Walker will address New Zealand Parliamentarians on the development of the iron and steel industry.
