Preparations Made By Government SCHEME SUBMITTED TO LOCAL BODIES A comprehensive plan of campaign, dealing with the steps to be taken in the event of a national disaster, such as tut earthquake, and including, it is understood, precautions that could be applied in the event of air raids, has been drawn up by a Government committee for submission to various local authorities. A report entitled “Draft of an Emergency Precautions Scheme,” consisting of 105 pages of close type, has been received by the mayor of AA r ellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, from the Minister, of Internal Affairs, Hon. AV. E. Parry. The scheme was sent with the object of obtaining criticism and the general views of the city council. “After the Hawke's Bay earthquake a scheme for,dealing with national emergencies was developed in AVellington.” said Mr. Hislop last night. “Subsequently the Government started one, and this scheme is much on the same lines as the one the council devised. At present we arc just looking at it.” The report received by Mr.. Hislop, the contents of which are confidential, has lieen drawn up as a provincial scheme to serve as a guide to local authorities in the preparation of local schemes for action in an emergency such as an earthquake.
