OLYMPIC GAMES
Must Get Back To Real Spirit “NOT PROPAGANDA” “In all the circumstances it is just an well that Japan will not conduct the Olympic Games' in 1940,” said the chairman of the Council of the New Zealand British Empire and Olympic Games Association, yesterday, when asked if he had any comment to make about the position which had arisen. "I hope that in whatever country they are conducted in IfHO, an effort will be made to get back to the real spirit of the Games, and not to use them for the purposes of political propaganda, as has unfortunately been done of late,” -Mr. McCormick proceeded. “The Games will probably -be held in Finland in 1940, and it is to be hoped that they will be conducted in a more modest manner, and that every effort will be made to get back to their real spirit.”
