Fire In Department Store
By Telegraph—Press Association. New Plymouth, July 7. Fire destroyed hundreds of pounds worth of stock at the New Plymouth branch of McKenzie's Department Stores Ltd. to-night Fire damage was confined to storerooms upstairs, but practically the whole stock of the shop was saturated with water. Dense smoke was seen in King Street just after 7 p.m., and two engines turned out. Leads w'tre run to the front of the building in Devon Street and the rear in King Street, but it was some time before the outbreak was quelled. Details of the insurance, issued by Lloyds, were not available tonight.
