ADELE ISLAND
Annexed by France
By simple decree, and, with the approval of Great Britain, France has just added nearly 160,000 square miles of territory to her empire. This is a greater area than that of Belgium, Holland, Italy, and Switzerland combined. It is only 50,000 square miles short of the area of France itself. The territory, known as Adele Land, lies due south of the Great Australian Bight, and stretches to the South Pole.
It is highly-mineralised, is similar in formation to Victoria, in Australia, and has an equable temperature averaging about 63 degrees F. Adele Land is considered suitable for air bases, during summer months at least. After the autumnal equinox gales, with velocities up to 180 miles an hour, are fairly frequent.
