RAILWAY WORKSHOPS’ EMPLOYEES
Protest At Remarks Of Parliamentarians
The following resolution was carried unanimously at a mass meeting at the Hutt railway workshops yesterday:— "That this mass meeting of the Hutt workshops employees strongly resents the remarks of Messrs. Endean, Smith, and others, relative to laxity and lack of discipline in the railway service. 'We contend that with the increased number of employees the large volume of -work being done and the activity and co-operation shown by all employees is the logical result of a well-discinlined and contented staff working under good conditions. "We further deplore the attitude of certain members of Parliament, utilising their privilege to attack a large body of public servants who serve zealously and are at all times amenable to discipline of the correct type.”
