WRESTLING ON MONDAY
Dean Detton, who arrived at Auckland yesterday on his third visit to the Dominion, will open his New Zealand tour at the Wellington Town Hall ’on Monday night, when he will meet “Irish” Jack Kennedy in a professional heavyweight wrestling match over eight eight-minute rounds. Those who remember Detton in the past and recall with pleasure his style of wrestling will appreciate that in being matched with Kennedy he is being pitted against a man who will fit in with his style. Kennedy was one of the first arrivals of the season and the fact that lie is still packing in the crowds wherever he wrestles is a tribute to his consistently exhilarating and virile displays. He is very much of Detton’s size and has a varied assortment of holds to call upon. One of the most effective of these-is his flying toe-hold, which he uses judiciously and generally with good effect. There will lie much interest in seeing whether Detton has any new holds to display and, if so, what they are. It is anticipated that lie will attempt to use the barred toe-hold with which he has won so many, of his engagements during the past few years.
