GIRL CITIZENS

"Mother And Daughter" Night

The younger girls of the Wellington Y.W.C.A., who belong to the Girl Citizen Clubs ’ recently entertained their mothers at a “Mother and Daughter” night. Group singing, dancing, and original items depicting household life “when mother was a girl” and a parade of fashions of a past day proved very entertaining. A pleasing picture from “My Lady of the Chimney Corner” and a simple campfire symbolic of the spirit of the pioneer women were appreciated by everyone.

The mothers were invited to join with the girls in their community gathering, the girl citizen enrolment ceremony, and all were deeply impressed with the quiet dignity and the splendid challenge to true citizenship which is contained in the girl citizenship code. The evening had been planned by the girls as a demonstra tion of what the Y.W.C.A., through the girl citizen programme, is offering to girls between the ages of 13-18 years, and the mothers were quick to express their appreciation of the opportunities afforded their daughters.
