Excessive Drinking
Sir,—lf .Mr. Semple is inclined to disregard or disbelieve what Canon Gowring says about drinking in this country, he should stand outside any hotel in the Te Aro district of Wellington city at 6 p m. any night, but preferably 11 riday or Saturday, and see for himself. I have seen more drunkeness in Wellington in two days than I did on a world tour—l uni, etc., p Wellington, May 9.
