NEW AWARD SOUGHT
Cable Car Employees The applieatiou for a new award for employees of the Kelburue and Karori Tramway Co., Ltd., was considered in conciliation council in IVellingtou yesterday. The sifting was adjourned sine die pending the hearing ol the dispute affecting Wellugton City Corporation tramway employees.
The api'limjnl.s were t.lie Wellington Citv 'Pramways and Power-houses Employees and Municipial Omnibus Drivers’ Industrial Union of Workers, and. the respondent the Kelburne and Karori Trnmwav Co.. Ltd. The assessors for the workers were Messrs. D. J. King. 11. Rogers. Higgs, and N. Broadle.v (secretary). .Messrs. J. Darling, C.- T. Cox and W. J. .Mountjoy (agent) appeared for the employers. The applicants asked for 2/- an hour for ticket" clerks. 2/8 for cleaners, 2/9 for gripmen and general hands, and 2/10 for ropemen. The employers offered 1/3 for ticket clerks and 2/5 for ropemen. The employees asked fo.r two consecutive weeks’ annual holiday, evelusive of Sundays, and the employers offered one week. ' No agreement was come to.
An amended offer regarding wages by the employers was rejected.
