LIANE WINS AGAIN

Big Totalisator Increase At Nelson DOUBLE TO MOTHER-IN-LAW Dominion Special Service. Nelson, May H. .The Nelson Jockey Club was favoured with glorious weather for the concluding day of its annual meeting. Although much improved, the race track was still on the heavy side. The attendance was the best for years, and the totalisator turnover of £7449/10/- was £3509 better than last year's figures. Mother-in-Law Finishes Well. Esperance Bay was a slightly better favourite than Silver Fox for the Trial Stakes, the other runners being at good prices. Beginning smartly, Silver Fox led from Mother-in-Law, Diareus, Adieux, mid Esperance Bay. At the home turn Gold Coat was just in front of Adieux, Esperance Bay, and Mother-in-Law. The last-named put in good work in the straight and got up to beat Silver Fox by half a length, with Esperance Bay a short neck away, and Gold Coat fourth. Won Narrowly. The Dusky Chum-Travisque bracket carried most support for the Moutere Trot, but Evora was almost as well backed. Cassidy, Coral Prince, and Dusky Chum were the leading trio over most of the journey. When looking like rhe winner half a furlong from the post. Coral Prince mixed his gait, and in n hard finish Evora ran out the winner from Travisque by a narrow margin, with Guy Zolock close up third. Win For Clubman. Sunny Blonde carried £2/10/- more than Clubman for the Motueka Hack Handicap. Jewish Lad was early in charge from Laggard and Sunny Blonde, and thus the}- ran into the straight. Over the final stages Clubman and Earl Colossus both put in good work, Clubman eventually winning by three-quarters of a length, with Jewish Lad two lengths and a half back. Sunny Blonde was fourth. ' Llano's Good Run. Mishna was installed favourite for the Redwood Memorial Handicap, but 'Siegmund and Might also carried strong support. r Siegmund began smartly and, closely followed by Mishna ami Liane, he was still in charge at the straight, entrance. Siegmund retired a furlong from the post, and Mishna appeared the winner, when Liane put in a fine run to beat Mishna by half a length, with Might a head further back, . and Round Score fourth. Won From the Back. Of the four starters for the Tahuna Hack Handicap Contract was a little belter supported than Lustral. After Gas Mask had led for half a inile. Contract ran to the lead, but once in the straight Lustral came from the back to win decisively from Gas Mask, with Contract a head back. Travisque’s Trot. The Travisque-Trumhn bracket was the choice of backers for the Richmond Handicap. . This pair soon worked into the leading position and. after Truman had led Travisque into the straight the latter came on and eventually won very comfortably from Evora, who just held off Guy Zolock. Coral Prince was a poor fourth. Second Win of Day. Bonnie Agnes was a warm favourite for the Stoke Hack Handicap, Free Gold and Mother-in-Law also coming in for solid support. . Daymiss, Free .Gold, Mother-in-Law ami Bonnie Agnes were prominent early, but once in line for the judge Mother-in-Law ran to the front, but had to be-rid-den out to beat Bonnie Agnes by half n length. Esperance Bay and Free Gold were close up. For the Glen Memorial Handicap Matoru, Export, Myrinm and Roy Bun were all evenly supported. Roy Bun Wins in Hard Finish. When the tapes lifted Export showed out first, but Matoru soon took charge and, followed by Bun Fight, Export and Roy Bun. led up the back. Roy Bun went to the front at the half-mile, but there was little between Rey Bun. Matoru, Export and Myrinm at the straight entrance. In the run up the straight n hard battle ensued, Roy Buu finishing best to hold off a fast run from Alby. Myrinm was a close third and Matoru fourth.
