(Received April 5> 12.50 a.m.)

London, April 4.

The “Daily Mail’’ says it is reported in City circles that the purchase will be announced shortly of the Post Office beam radio stations by Cables and Wireless, Ltd., for £2,500,000. It is expected that the Government will pay Cables and Wireless, Ltd., £500,000 in return for which in times of emergency they will maintain certain cable routes which, though of vital importance, are now run at a loss.

A cablegram published on Saturday stated that the Australian Associated Press agency understands that the announcement. regarding cheaper rates for the Imperial cable and wireless communications was delayed pending the conclusion of the communications conference at Cairo. The British Government will announce the new scheme in a White Paper on April 8, and it is expected that simultaneous announcements will be made by all the Dominions.
