Farewell To Mr. And Mrs.
M. S. Galloway
The president, Mrs. L. H. Angus, and committee of the Red Cross Social Club were hostesses yesterday at a delightful afternoon tea which they gave at the Hotel St. George to bid “bon voyage” to Mr. M. S. Galloway, secretary of the Wellington Centre of the Red Cross Society, and Mrs. Galloway, who are leaving very shortly for Australia. While there, Mr. Galloway will participate in the Red Cross Conference and the Anzac Day celebrations. The portion of the Palm Lounge used for the gathering was gay with vases of hydrangeas, michaelnias daisies, asters and dahlias. Afternoon tea was served at little tables, each tearing a vase of asters. During the afternoon songs were sung by Mrs. Parata Olsen, Mrs. Palmer (accompanied by Miss Dorothy Spinks), and Renal Gage, a little girl was a remarkable voice. She was accompanied by Mr. Shand. Piano selections were given by Mr. R. Avery. The guests of honour were received by Mrs. Angus and Mrs. M. Bunny, Mrs. Galloway wearing an ensemble of brown and fawn Harris tweed, with brown felt hat and eye veil. Dr. A. Gillies, who is chairman of the New Zealand Red Cross Society and president of the Wellington centre, expressed the admiration of all present for the work done on behalf of the Red Cross by both Mr. and Mrs. Galloway and wished them the best of luck during their trip. His remarks were endorsed by Mr. C. 11. Chapman, M.P., the chairman of the Wellington centre. In thanking the social club for entertaining him, Mr. Galloway stated that the Red Cross was gradually coding into its own and he urged al] present to get behind (die organisation and give loyal service. He intended, he added, to find out as much as possible, while in Australia, about the workings and activities of the Red Cross there. On behalf of himself and his wife, he again thanked one and all for tiieir hospitality. Miss Amy Kane presented sprays of flowers to Mrs. Galloway, and to the mayoress, Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, who was present with the mayor. Those present were: Lady Pomare, Lady Hunter, Dr. and Mrs. Alexander Gillies, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Chapman, Mrs. Walter Gray, Mrs. Hendry, Mrs. Downes, Mrs. Latham, Mrs. Haslett, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Lamberg, Miss Patterson, Mrs. Little, Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Marshall, Mrs. Stevens, Miss Peggy Bunny, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lavett, Mrs. Lark, Mr. L. H. Angus, Dr. and Mrs. Maclean, Mrs. Dennis-toun-Wood, Miss Amy Kane, Mrs. Preston, Mrs. E. E. Gillon, Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. Wilson Downes, Mrs. J.
