HAWKE CUP CRICKET MATCH
South Auckland In Strong. Position By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, March 25. On a tricky wicket Wangamn were dismissed cheaply in the Hawke Cup cricket challenge match against South Auckland to-day, the visitors being all out in the first innings for the small total of 62, only two batsmen making double figures. Obviously tired by their long journey, the Wanganui men offered weak opposition to the South Auckland batsmen, and the latter scored 308 in their first innings. Clough and Everest were particularly aggressive, and were rarely troubled by the bowling. The visitors’ fielding was keen but. not brilliant, many runs coming through faulty throwing. There were also a number of dropped catches. Details: — WANGANUI.—First Innings. R. Sewell, c. Skeet, b. Lyon 6 L. A. Wood, 1.b.w., b. Lissette 5 D. Barton, c. Clough, b. Lyon 4 A. Davidson, c.
