AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD
Old Boys’ President Opposes Abolition Bv Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 23. Strong views that the interests of the school would be best served by the retention of the Auckland Grammar School Board in its present form and with its iiresent powers were expressed by the president of the Auckland Grammar School Old Boys’ Association, Dr. Kenneth MacCormlck. He held the view that the school’s endowments of £300,000 had been well administered by the present board and that no other body would do as well. The disappearance of the board also would mean the loss of the school’s individuality, loss of tradition and would remove the vitalising connection between old boys and the school and between the past and present pupils. Many members, of the board were old boys of the school and for that reason they had a closer understanding both of its needs and ideals.
