TOWN HALL LECTURE

♦———. The Very Rev. Father Dudley The Very Rev. Father Owen Francis Dudley, Superior of the Catholic Mission, ary Society, England, who is to lecture at the Town Hall next Wednesday night, has shown since his arrival in New Zealand that the reputation which preceded, him from England is well deserved. In 1911 he was ordained for the Anglican ministry, and in both country and slum parishes hp showed his ability for four years. Then the claims o f the Roman Catholic Church proved irresistible to him, and he was received into the church in 1915. Two years later, after study at the Be'da College in Rome, he was ordained priest. Then came the war. Father Dudley joined up as a chaplain. After the war he joined the Catholic Missionary Society, which has as its purpose the giving of missions, the dissemination of Cafholic truth throughout England and Wales by means of motor chapels, open-air ahd cinema lectures, and broadcast addresses, and the production of literature expository of Catholic doctrine. Father Dudley is on the Catholic Council of International Relations, and on the general eomniittee of the Catholic Truth Society. He is also a member of the special committee of the London Public Morality Council. Father Dudley is knou/i to a wide circle of readers for his literary works on topical subjects of world import. In Auckland recently, during the Roman Catholic centenary celebrations, Father Dudley was a popular figure with everybody. His lectures and addresses are simple and direct, and he makes his point with touches of humour that delight his" audience. Father Dudley will give only one lecture in Wellington.
