Napier, March 24. Napier is going to receive its full share of the heavy traffic expected at tourist resorts throughout the Dominion during the Easter holidays. Inquiries made at the Government Tourist Bureau to-day show that Napier can expect a record holiday period. Hotel bookings are already exceptionally heavy at all of the Napier hotels, but it is probable that a large number of visitors will not be accommodated in hotels but on wheels and under canvas at the Napier motor camp. It is impossible to estimate even roughly the number of camping parties which will visit the district, but judging by the number of motorists accommodated at the camp during the last Christmas vacation, the camp will be well filled next month. Special transport services are being arranged for the holiday period to carry tourists to Napier. 'The two main attractions being arranged are the Spillane football tiuruament and the festival of the competitions society. 'The competitions were to have been held in the. new municipal theatre this year, blit a delay in the completion of the building lias caused a change in plans and a hall has now been engaged. "Work is proceeding rapidly on the Esplanade improvements, and the council hopes to have a considerable amount of work done before the holiday season.
