First Of Monthly Contests Twenty newcomers to the sport of weight-lifting competed in a tournament at the Kelvin School of Physical Culture on 'Wednesday night. The contest was the first of a series of monthly competitions. The 01pmpic set of lifts were used for the first time, and some promising talent was apparent. Among those who showed promise were’ Jacobsen, Wyners, Merrieh, Schreuder and Lobb. Other lifters who have settled down to serious training are A. Angrone, New Zealand lightweight champion, L. Wooleott, the well-known Wellington heavyweight; F. Sullivan, middleweight; J. Wilkin, the light-heavyweight, who recently broke two New Zealand records: R. Munroe, light-heavyweight, and D. Crassly, featherweight. * Weight-lifters all over the world will await with interest the result of the international featherweight contest to be held in London on Saturday at the annua! health and strength display between Gorg Liebsch. Olympic and world champion, and Norman Holroyd, champion of Great Britain.
