Marry At Twenty-One
Lord Austin’s Advice to » Every Young Man
“Dominion” Special Service—By Air Mail. London, March oUPHE secrets of Lord Austin’s success, revealed this week by the motormagnate himself, are: (1) His wife; (2) his wife's cooking. “I was married at 21,” be said this week, “and I advise every young man to do the same.
“Without my wife I could never have succeeded. The day I married ‘the girl next door’ in Melbourne, and had a home of my own, I felt I was somebody. “Not the least of my wife’s virtues Is her ali’lity to cook. 1 know that is an old, old story, but believe me, if it had not been for her skill in that direction, I should not have enjoyed the good health which enables me, at 71, to work 12 hours a day. “I am so convinced of this that I have instituted a voluntary cooking class here at the works at Longbridge, where members of my feminine staff may receive free lessons from experts in this important art.’’ And the woman whose husband turns out 90,000 cars a year, has never even learned to drive. She is not particularly interested in cars. She is much more concerned about making him the steak-and-kidney pies which happen to be his favourite dish.
