Preserving A Scenic Gem

Sir,—The Everton Terrace Bridge is worn out and the crossing is dangerous. Instead of replacing the bride. I understand that it is the intention of the council to fill in the gully and thus destroy the fernery and the garden in the adjoining property. As a ratepayer I desire to enter an emphatic protest against such vandalism. There are too few beauty spots already in our city and there is surely no need to destroy one of the few remaining ones/ A bridge (preferably concrete) could be erected in place of the existing one and the beauty spot retained without destruction of the ferns and plants. I hope the matter will be further considered and due consideration given to the retention of this delightful garden.—l am, etc., AJAX. Wellington, March 23.
