THE GOLF SEASON

Morning ton Summer Cup The Mornington Golf Club’s Summer Cup contest, which was concluded pa Sunday, has proved one of the most interesting competitions in Wellington's golf this year. As the competition demanded of tlie players a match ctery week-end ditriug the off-season it seemed certain that the trophy would go to the most consistent player in the club. This proved to be the ease, for there is no more consistent player at Mornington than the winner, A. V. O'Brien. O'Brien played many of his matches immediately after long trips, but seemed to possess the kuack of overcoming fatigue. His chief asset is great accuracy, a wonderful help on the hilly and difficult Morniugton Course. He is gifted with a wonderful temperament for competitive golf. It is to be hoped the newly-eleCted committee lit Motulngton will see fit to stage another summer cup competition when the time comes aud that it will be run on similar lines to that which hag just finished in order that the Consistent player of the period shall be rewarded.
