A talk on the Empire Games in Sydney and his experiences when there as manager of the New Zealand team was given by Mr. 11. McCormick to the Wellington Rotary Club yesterday. The speaker traced the history of the'games and praised the conduct of the New Zealand team in Sydney. He paid a tribute to the sportsmanship of Ward, the English distance runner. "If Matthews (New Zealand) was great in victory. Ward was great in defeat,” he sttid. Ward had acknowledged immediately after the three miles event that he had been beaten by a better runner. At the conclusion of bis talk Mr. McCormick was thanked by the president of the club, Mr. R. Telford.
