GARDEN PARTY

Successful Fete At Wellington College In the”brilliant sunshine of Saturday afternoon a most successful gtirden party, which attracted a large number of parents, old boys mid friends, was held at Wellington College. Her Excellency Viscountess Galway was present, and was accompanied by Mrs. R. G. Byron, mid her Excellency’s four children, the Hons. Mary, Celia and Isabel Monekton, and tlie Hon. Simon Monekton-Arundel. Also in the official party were the Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, and Mrs. Fraser, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, mayor of Wellington, ami Mrs. Hislop, Mr. W. ,A. Armour, principal of Wellington College, mid Mrs. Armour, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Cornish, Miss D. Isaac, principal of Wellington East Girls' College, mid Misses . Margaret and Alison Armour. On the playing-fields the boys gave an effective display of ambulance work, physical training and gymnastics Much amusement was caused by an old time school pageant representing the first day of college in 1874. The official party watched these events from the bank and afterward made a tour of the numerous stalls which were «et out in marquees in the, grounds. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Armour entertained them to afternoon tea. The tennis courts and swimming bath were open for the general public, and the Boys’ Institute Band played selections. There was much to entertain the visitors, Including a promenade concert. the screening of several short films, and an exhibition of schoolboy hobbies. Afternoon tea was served in tl>z supper-room in the main school. Members of the ladles’ auxiliary of the parents’ association were responsible for the stalls and the afternoon tea, and the helpers included: Cake stall, Mrs. H. 11.
