YACHTSMEN'S RETURN

Port Nicholson Club Celebration A few weeks ago the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club held a dance to say farewell to the crew of Impudence. Messrs. C. D. A. Highet, G. C. Highet. M. 0. Stevens, G. R. Fisher, W. McKay, and D. M. Prendeville, who, with the crew of Vamp, Auckland, were departing for Hobart to show Australian yachtsmen the calibre of New Zealand fourteen-footers. Whether or not the success of the farewell gathering was responsible, the two crews arrived back recently after having won almost everything it was possible for them to win.

To the Port Nicholson club it seemed that this required celebrating, and Wellington yachtsmen were not backward in answering the call to Kelburn Kiosk on Saturday night. Dress was described as informal, which meant that blazers held sway, the vivid blue of the Wellington yacht clubs being very much in evidence. Port Nicholson badges predominated, but there was a sprinkling of the insignia of other clubs.

The social committee to whom the club delegated the responsibility of en- • suring its guests’ comfort and happiness was: Messrs, C. Highet, B. JTonks, I. Watkins,, N. Banner, Tombs, Greensill, and Lamberton.
