DIAMOND JUBILEE
Vivian Street Baptist Church The diamond jubilee celebrations of Vivian Street Baptist Church. Wellington, which opened last Sunday with special services at which a former minister. the Rev. Dr. J. J. North, preached to a large congregation, will be continued to-morrow. The Rev. J. K. Archer will be the preacher. Celebrations will <’9 11 ‘ elude next Tuesday with a tea meeting arranged by the Brooklyn. Berhampore. i’etoiie and Miramar ••i.tirelies, and this is to be followed b.v :: public meeting. The chief speaker will be (lie Rigtit Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland. Bi-liop ef Wellington. Last Tuesday a conversazione was held for members and ex-memliers. At this tlie pastor, (lie Bev. L. J. Boulton Smith, presided. Among greetings received was a message from a foundation woman member. This was present.ii by Mr A. Donovan. who has completed 30 years us church secretary. There were a number of addresses given at t gathering during, the evening, after which Mr. Boulton Smith, on behalf of .lie members, presented Mr. Charles Coilins wdh a chair and lampshade in appreciation ot his ,)0 years’ continuous service as church organist. Mrs. Collins was ’presented with a bandbag. Before the gathering dispersed Mr. Boulton Smith said tli.it members were asked as a special jubilee effort to contribute £5OO to extinguish a deficit and provide £3OO for renovating church property Through a friend's generosity one-third of the amount had been promised and another well-wisher had given £lOO. It was li tied to see the whole of the amount raised by the end of the jubilee celebrations.
