USE OF HAWAII
Not For British & Dutch Air Interests APPLICATIONS REFUSED Washington, March 10. It is learned that the United States has rejected applications from British and Dutch interests for permission to establish commercial air bases at Hawaii on the ground that it is unwilling to expose the Hawaiian defences to the view of foreign airliners over which the United States would have little control. There is also the likelihood that if the application were granted, other countries, including Japan, ■would seek the same concession.
The British interests proposed to use Hawaii as a base between Australia and Vancouver.
