Wellington Branch Meeting There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Institute of Public 21dministration on Thursday night. The institute, membership of vyhicl} iS open to all persons employed either in the public services or by local bodies, has for its main object the study of problems of public administration with the general idea that as a result of such study the efficiency of the services will be increased. Arrangements are well in train for the publication of a ‘‘Journal of Public Administration,” and it is expected that the first issue will be available within the next two months. During the meeting considerable discussion took place e.i the question of formal education in the field of public administration, and it was unanimously decided to support the national executive in its efforts jo see that the interests and requirements of public servants are adequately safeguarded in any proposals that may be put "forward. Information was received from the national executive that it had been decided to award biennially a gold medal for the best study in public administration by a member of the institute. The following officers were elected :— Chairman. Dr. A. G. Butchers: vicechairman. Mr. W. Stewart; district committee, Messrs. G. L. Agar, G. P. Anderson. A. G. Harper, L. If. de Berry, W. L. Scadden, F. B. Stephens, A. F. Taylor, and Dr. A. R. F. McKay; secretary, Mr. AV. A. Jameson; treasurer, Mr. More; auditor, Mr. F. A. Baker.
