A Chinese Wedding
(~)NE Saturday a few weeks ago I V was taking a walk anti noticed that quite a crowd of people had collected about a nearby church. I hurried ou, and from what I heard the crowd was saying I gathered that a Chinese wedding was. taking place. I found a friend, and together We tried to enter the church, but unfortunately it was already overflowing. However, it was not long before the ceremony' was concluded and the dainty little bride with her young husband came out. followed by some little maids in pink and blue, an'd. many guests and friends, who all hurried away, chattering excitedly about the feast which was to be held not far away. On the long table stood huge dishes of every type of food dear to the hearts of Chinese, especially those who have sojourned in a strange country for many years. For hours they ate an'd drank, and in their own way congratulated the happy young couple.— Original, by Molly O’Day (16), Otaki.
