Fat sheep: Ewes, poor, 13/-; medium to prime, 18/- to 22/6; good average, 19/-; wethers, good average, 23/-. Fat cattle: Best bullocks at Westfield, £7/10/- to £lO/15/-, averaging 25/- 1001 b. for choice beef. Works schedule rates were: Ewes, 13/-; wethers, 23/-; and lamb, 7Jd. a lb.; freezing beef, 21/- to 22/-. The local trade, however, nutting ewes and fat cattle above export parity. Facial eczema was causing great trouble, in the Manawatu and Waikato especially.
