DAIRY STOCK PRICES
Strong Demand 'Evident
One hears much of the swing to sheep by dairy-farmers. But it is interesting to note that at the few sales held to date this season dairy stock have sold well. From memory I judge present prices to be above those of a year ago by 10/- to £1 a head.
One report before me of a typical current sale states that the herd averaged £B/2/- over-all, ineluding unsound and empty cows; the sound cows averaged £9: top cows sold at £lO/15/- to £l2 10/-: heifers, r.w.b., £5/15/- to £7/2/6. In Taranaki quality heifers have been making £7/10/- to £9, and weaners up to £4. This is March. What will dairy stock be making in June?
