FIRES YESTERDAY
\ * 4 — ' A fire early yesterday morning caused by a breakdown in a .rectifier supplying a fan did considerable damage to the premises of L. M. Silver and C 0.,, electrical engineers. The premises' are on the ground floor of Lucas House, a six-story building at the corner of Chaffers and Wakefield Streets. The breakage of the rectifier caused a short-circuit, resulting in several batteries discharging. The fire was extinguished by brigadestnen from the central Station, with the aid of chemicals. The premises of Mr. T. Brierly, baker, 36 Frederick Street, were slightly damaged by fire ae a result of internal combustion in a coal bunker at the rear of the bakehouse. The brigade received this call at 3.37 a.m.
