TIMBER WORKERS
Minimum Rate Of Wages
Tlie minimum rate of wages for workers in the timber industry was fixed by a recent judgment of the Second Court of Arbitration, given at Auckland. The new rate is 2/4J an hour, and the schedule for all classes of workers will be adjusted accordingly when the parties meet again in Conciliation Council at Auckland next week. The rate of wages was the only matter referred to the court by the parties to the New Zealand timber workers’ dispute, who met a fortnight ago. About 8000 workers will be affected by the new wage rates.
