Morning Glory
A RED sky at night is the shepherd's delight but not. many of us are shepherds arid it is. hard to remember last night's sunset when there is a tram to catch and you arc summoning up enough courage to face another day. It is surprising that, though we have awakened, washed and dressed every morning for many years there are still few people who have a system for preparing for the outside world. Nintynine people out of a hundred clean their teeth before breakfast, polish their shoes after washing their hands and remember about clean ■ handkerchiefs when they are taking their tram-tickets out of their library books to hand to the conductor.
That means that you clean your teeth twice, wash your hands twice and sniff surreptitiously all the way to work more often than not. What we need is system. A rhythmic method of becoming' civilised in the mornings without wasted effort .and nervous strain. Try working to time-table. Clean your shoes first, clean your teeth last. Always clutch a clean handkerchief before slamming the front door and then see if you are in time for your tram. . . you won't be. ■ And see if morning routine is a, good enough excuse for .being ten minutes late ot the office.—N.B.
