LABOURER REMANDED ON SERIOUS CHARGE

When Alfred George Clegg, labourer, aged 46, who had twice previously been remanded, appeared at the Magistrates’ Court to-day charged with assaulting a woman near Albany on January 14, the police withdrew a charge of breaking and entering. However an additional charge was preferred, assaulting a woman with intent to commit rape. Clegg, for whom counsel appeared, was further remanded till February 3.
