Unlikely To Race Again This Season (By Carbine.> The slight mishap which prevented Te Hero from racing at Trentham. where he was to have contested the Wellington Stakes, may also have caused a change in plans: concerning him for the remainder of the season. Had nothing untoward occurred, re Hero most likely would have been seen in action at the Auckland Easter meeting, but now it is unlikely he will race again this year. No harm is expected to result from tlie mishap at Trentham, and when next Te Hero appears—as a three-year-old—he should be a fine horse. He is developing into a splendid individual, and his future is very bright. Offers to buy him have been renewed, and a very handsome one from Australia was refused during race week.

RICCARTON WORK Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, January 26. Although the work done on the flat was of no interest to the track watchers at Riccarton this morning, there was some schooling over the brush, hurdles. Flashlight jumped twice round and gave a very good showing. He is a likely novice. Top Ranli. though not quite at top speed, went with plenty of dash over six obstacles, his jumping being very good. Conception was in. her best form over a circuit and she is on the way to winning jumping races, possibly as a steeplechaser in the winter. L. J. Argentic was raced only on the first day at Trentham, ns one of his legs filled slightly after the Wellington Cup. He is not lame, but he will not do any more racing this senson, having been turned out for a spell, which will last Cor several months. Mr. T. H. Coltmnn. Wellington, is the new owner of the three-yenr-old. Haughty I Winner. He was purchased from Sir Charles Clifford last week by C. C. McCarthy, who will be his trainer.
