REVOLT THREATENED

East Canadian Provinces REVENUES FOR PRAIRIES Montreal, December 16. A threatened revolt by Quebec aud Ontario against the Dominion Government ,was hinted at by the Premier of Quebec, Mr. L. Duplessis, in drawing attention to the demands of British Columbia and the prairies provinces ■before a Royal Commission for a larger share of the Dominion revenues. “The older provinces,” he said, “are tired of carrying the burdens of the West and will not be run by Ottawa for the benefit of the West.” The Dominion’s refusal to assume the entire responsibility for unemployment relief is the underlying bpsis of friction. Mr. JI. F. Hepburn, Premier of Ontario, challenged the Government on its refusal to permit the export of Ontario electric power to the United States, presaging an appeal to the Privy Council. A petition by 10,000 farmers of British Columbia requests the Government to urge Dominion legislation prohibiting Japanese owning or renting land and lays the charge that Oriental monopoly of the produce industry has been gained by means of peaceful penetration.
